James Martin

 

Saturday 15th July

James Martin needs little or no introduction! This will be James's third visit to the festival and we are very excited to welcome him back. He has been very busy with new projects since leaving Saturday Kitchen including a partnership with Asda supermarket, united by a shared passion to inspire people to enjoy great tasting, quality food no matter what their budget. His demonstrations are full of great cooking, entertainment and bucket loads of fun!

Introducing James to the stage will be Su Harrison, one half of the Heart Essex Breakfast team. Su's lively sense of humour and infectious laugh will be sure to put a smile on your face

Nadiya Hussain

 

Sunday 16th July

11am : 1pm

 

Nadiya may well have been the smallest baker in the GBBO tent in 2015 but what Nadiya lacked in height, she made up for with her amazing creations, her enthusiasim, wit and warmth. The nation certainly took Nadiya to their hearts and she even made the wonderful Mary Berry cry with emotion at her win.

Welcome to our local chefs

All of our local chefs will be demonstrating from the Broil King BBQ stage and they are free of charge to watch. No bookings are necessary - pull up a seat and get ready to cook with them at the cook-along stage. Members of the audience will be invited to "have a go" at cooking selected elements of their dishes. Demonstration times will be advised closer to the festival weekend.

Chris & Jeff Galvin

 

Saturday 15th July

On stage: 2pm

 

Chris was originally inspired by the cooking of his grandmother, Chris's career is one of almost forty years as a chef working in some of the finest restaurants on both sides of the Atlantic. His talent, enthusiasim and dedication never waning for the profession he loves.

Jeff was inspired by his older brother Chris and started his career at the same small neighbourhood restaurant where Chris once washed the pots for Anthony Worrall- Thompson. After completing catering college, Jeff joined the Savoy hotel as a young Commis under the direction of Anton Edelman.

The brothers teamed up together in 2005 to open their first solo venture, the eponymous Galvin Bistrot de Luxe in Baker Street, to much critical acclaim. They went on to open many more successful restaurants together........

In November 2016, they re-opened one of the oldest pubs in Essex after an extensive refurbishment. Set in 1.5 acres of riverside meadow amidst beautiful countryside, the Galvin Green Man is a traditional British pub, serving traditional pub dishes.

David Innes

 

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th July 

On stage: 12noon (Sat) 11am (Sun)

 

David started his career at the age of 16 working for the Food Company at Marks Tey. He later found his feet and was mentored at Jimmy's Farm in Suffolk where he really found his passion for high welfare meat and traditional butchery techniques. He started demonstrating these techniques 6 years ago for a group of college students and since then has taken every opportunity to travel around Essex and Suffolk visiting food shows and demonstrating his passion and knowledge for the trade. David is known as "Off the Hook Butcher" and is looking forward to meeting all the festival meat fans!

Matthew Hill

Down Hill Country House Hotel

 

Sunday 16th July

On stage: 1pm

 

Matthew is the Head Chef at Down Hall Country House Hotel. He first joined Down Hall as a junior sous chef ten years ago. He moved to London to gain experience in some of the capital's best restaurants including Tom Aitkens restaurant in Chelsea and Bleeding Heart in Farringdon. He has also spent time at other prestigious hotels in the UK. Matthew now returns to familiar pastures at Down Hall, overseeing all food and beverage operations and running the 66 cover restaurant.


Andi Walker

 

Sunday 16th July

On stage: 2pm

 

Masterchef: the Professionals semi finalist Andi joins the lineup for the festival. Andi is currently a consultant for the Blue Group in Essex and hosts weekly independent pop-ups held at The Riverside Inn, Chelmsford. His pop-ups showcase his life and travels as a chef, with ever changing 6 course tasting menus which reflect the best local produce available that week. Andi has previously worked in high profile kitchens including; Tuddenham Mill in Newmarket, Kings College, Cambridge and The Woodford. He also trained under world renowned chef Anton Adelmann. In 2015 he became a semi-finalist on Masterchef: the Professionals


What's the festival without this guy?

Yes, it's fabulous Essex Turkey Farmer, Paul Kelly. He entertains us and educates us with his love of cooking with turkey. And reminding us a Turkey is not just for Christmas!

Welcome to Charlie Hodson

Saturday 15th July on the Broil King Stage

On stage 1pm

Charlie was recently on Chanel 4's Sunday Brunch having just been awarded "Best Sausage Roll" at the Red Lion, Barnes. Born in France, Charlie was raised in Norfolk and has a vast number of accomplishments in and out of the kitchen including two straight AA rosettes at the Grove in 7 months.

Charlie says " the more we can sing and shout about how amazing our individual counties are for produce, Farming, Heritage and Education, the more we share our ideas and thoughts the more we grow together......"
